NIPPONIA仁尾の各施設の床材や浴室などに使われる檜（ひのき）
その故郷である地元香川県の林業家さんを訪ねて参りました。
雨の少ない瀬戸内にあり、日当たりの少ない北側斜面が多い香川県では、木がゆっくりと育つそうです。
そう伺って、少し気の毒に感じたところ・・・
「そのぶん、年輪が密になって力強い」
と、弱点が強みに変わっていることを教えてくださいました。
仁尾では、今日も時間がゆっくりと流れています。

We visited the local forestry workers in Kagawa Prefecture, its homeland.
Located in the Seto Inland Sea region with little rainfall, Kagawa Prefecture has many north-facing slopes with limited sunlight, where trees grow slowly.
Hearing this, I felt a little sorry for them…
“But that means the growth rings are denser and stronger,”
they explained, showing how a weakness becomes a strength.
In Nipponia Nio, time flows slowly even today.
